Have you ever thought about starting a health and wellness blog for your business?
Do you know where to start?
Are you worried if it's worth it?
If any of these are you, I don’t blame you. Blogs are a big commitment. Of both time and money.
But how do you know if a blog is right for your business?
Your website is great. It gives the reader a look into who you and your brand are. But pairing it with a blog is even better. Your personality can shine through, while conveying the right tone, and educating your consumers on all things YOU.
Here are some fantastic reasons why you should consider a blog for your business.
Blogs For Health and Wellness
One of the biggest reasons to create a health and wellness blog is you get to create content related to your product or service. This gives you free rein to delve into your products, demonstrate your expertise, show how your product solves your clients problems, and captivate them with a call to action.
This is your chance to get into the nitty-gritty with your product details. You can use blogs to ease your customer’s worries, answer questions you think they might have, and hit on their pain points.
It’s an opportunity to make your product the answer to everything your customer’s been looking for. Not to mention keep them updated about your business.
Which leads to my next point. Blogs help establish you and your business as an industry leader.
By this I mean it shows your audience that you know what you are talking about.
You become the trusted source for information in your industry. Your blog becomes the first stop when your customers need more information on a topic.
The more they keep coming back, the higher your site ranks on Google. Which in turn delivers your site fresh eyes!
Blogs also help drive long-term results.
A blog post doesn’t disappear. It doesn’t fade away over time. It persists on the internet, continuing to show up in relevant searches.
Once you post to your health and wellness blog, it will keep benefiting your business for years to come. And it doesn’t require you to repost your blog or pay for ads.
Benefits Of Having A Health and Wellness Blog On Your Website
There are a TON of benefits to having a blog on your website.
The biggest benefit is generating more leads. By posting helpful and insightful blogs you bring in more traffic to your website and get more eyes on your products/services.
And hey, there’s nothing wrong with more eyes on your site!
The more informed leads you bring in, the higher your conversion rates. Rather than a cold lead, which will most likely lead to them clicking away from your site without a sale, bring in warm leads. Warm leads are people who come in already informed about you, your brand, and your products. This increases the likelihood of you making the sale. They clicked on your blog and came to your site for a reason. For your awesome products and services!
This is a great way to collect emails as well. You can build up your email list and send out even more information, like your new health and wellness blog posts or newsletters…etc, via the emails you collect.
You also get increased brand awareness through a blog. Through the same vein of increased traffic, you get more people seeing YOUR site and YOUR products. You become synonymous with that business line.
This is huge in today’s world where there are a seemingly endless number of businesses in every industry. You want to stand out from the crowd. You need recognition.
A blog will do all of that for you.
In addition, and most importantly, blogs help with a website’s SEO. By researching keywords and fluidly placing them in your blogs, you will be able to climb up the Google Search rankings.
SEO-optimized blog posts, combined with a well-written SEO-optimized website, are the main reasons you will see an increase in views. The right keywords allow for the blog to show up in searches, leading to more eyes on your products, leading to more sales.
See, it all comes full circle!
Disadvantages Of Blogging
Now just like with anything else, there are some downsides to blogging as well.
First and foremost, health and wellness blogs are time-consuming. And for a few reasons.
Reason number 1, it's a lot of writing. Maybe you are excellent at writing and can hammer one out in no time, or maybe it takes you all week to write a paragraph. Either way, it takes time.
And when you spend your day running your business, are you really going to have time to write in the evenings? Sure you can, but you probably have other things you’d like to do other than MORE WORK. (I myself love to play Dek Hockey).
Reason number 2, you need to do your research. Research is key to a well-crafted health and wellness blog post. Especially because your audience will want to see factually correct statements. So you will need to cite (thank you English class!).
Research on the topic, research on keywords and phrases, research on what is trending… It's a lot to handle.
But without research, your post could fall flat and not help your site at all. You need to put in the time and really flesh out your ideas to create a thought-provoking and helpful health and wellness blog to add to your collection.
This is important. A poorly written blog doesn’t sound as good. It might turn some customers off of your product and cause them to lose faith in your site.
If your poorly written blog has false or incorrect information, you can lose customer trust entirely. And we all know how crucial that trust is.
The bottom line is that you need to show that you know what you’re talking about.
Reason number 3, you need to post regularly. Posting in your health and wellness blog once every three months won’t cut it. You won’t see the full potential your blog can give you.
Posting once every week or two is much better and will help your Google rankings. Not to mention it will keep your customers engaged. (You don’t want them to forget you!)
What Does This Mean For You?
Now all of this success won’t happen overnight. It will take time for people to find and engage with your health and wellness blog.
But if you stick with it and post regularly, you will get results.
And it's doable for you. If you have the time to dedicate to writing your own blog, it's absolutely worth it.
One thing that makes it way easier is to start with an outline. That way you can get all of your ideas down.
Of course make sure you have a central idea in mind and that you can support your thesis.
If this all sounds like something you think you can do yourself, then great! BUT, if you feel like you need help with this sort of thing, then I’ve got good news.
A copywriter (like me for instance!) can do all of this work for you.
It's what I do.
I research the topic. Find the perfect keywords to optimize your blog for Google SEO. Seamlessly incorporate your call to action. All while writing it in the tone and voice you want to convey to your audience.
I take on the task of writing your health and wellness blogs so you have more time for family, friends, and maybe even some dek hockey!
